Services for Medical Examiners

RTI Donor Services has established relationships with medical examiners, coroners and justice of the peace professionals to ensure that donor families can fulfill their wishes for donation while ensuring that donation will not interfere with the death investigation.

To highlight some of the services we can offer to families and professionals:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the importance of chain of custody and ensuring that donation does not interfere with the collection of information necessary to preserve the integrity of the investigation
  • Understanding and supporting the decision to decline donation by the investigators and providing families with information that supports their decision for donation while helping them to understand why donation may not be possible in a particular situation
  • No cost access to professional pathological examination and reports to support the death investigation
  • Providing educational opportunities for donation professionals that bridges their understanding of how to effectively work with medical investigators to preserve evidence and prevent interference with the investigation
  • Sponsorships of educational events and publications that support donation and the medical investigation process
  • No cost continuing education opportunities for investigative staff
