Ambassador Program

The RTI Donor Services Donor Family Ambassador program provides opportunities for tissue donor families to share their talents and experiences by volunteering.

An Ambassador is a volunteer who shares his or her story of donation and conveys a positive message about tissue donation to others.

These volunteers can speak at hospitals, health fairs, community events and more. Donor Family Ambassadors may be accompanied by members of the RTI Donor Services team at the specific event. Ambassadors also are encouraged to attend donor family events hosted by RTI.

Specific activities that our Ambassadors may be involved in can include sharing their stories with the community, with healthcare professionals or with other donor families and listening to other donor family members and answering questions.

“We saw donation as a way for him to live on, and we wanted to give someone else a second chance. It hurts that he went to Heaven but it feels good to know that he can help more than 50 people through his gift.”

“One of the most surprising things about the donation was how many people our gift helped. It was a comfort to know that Patrick’s generosity continued even after death.”

“If I bent my neck backward, it would send shooting pains down my arm. Sometimes my entire right arm would go numb. I was desperate to find someone who could fix it.”

“It is such a wonderful gift by a donor family, especially because they have just suffered the loss of a loved one, and to make the decision to help others by donating their loved one’s body to better the health of others is one of the most selfless acts. To think of others, especially at one of the most emotionally difficult events in their lives, is an incredibly generous act.”
