Ambassador Program

The RTI Donor Services Donor Family Ambassador program provides opportunities for tissue donor families to share their talents and experiences by volunteering.

An Ambassador is a volunteer who shares his or her story of donation and conveys a positive message about tissue donation to others.

These volunteers can speak at hospitals, health fairs, community events and more. Donor Family Ambassadors may be accompanied by members of the RTI Donor Services team at the specific event. Ambassadors also are encouraged to attend donor family events hosted by RTI.

Specific activities that our Ambassadors may be involved in can include sharing their stories with the community, with healthcare professionals or with other donor families and listening to other donor family members and answering questions.

Voices of Donation

When faced with the decision to donate Tony’s organs and tissue, Nora felt it was a great dilemma. “I imagined just how happy some person, child and family would be to receive a gift of life,” said Nora, “but on the other hand, my child is gone, and I want him back.”

“We saw donation as a way for him to live on, and we wanted to give someone else a second chance. It hurts that he went to Heaven but it feels good to know that he can help more than 50 people through his gift.”

“Donation can be such a special gift to people who are in desperate need of help. Let us be as generous in death as we are in life.”
